Couples Portraits by Mister+ Lady | 10 years and lots of mix tapes later..
The Story of Adam & Penny
If you were to ask Adam what the last ten years have been like of their marriage he would begin by telling you it’s a lot like a really long road trip. You have lots of tasty treats, a fantastic selection of all your fave 90’s tunes on various mix tapes and an amazing woman by your side to enjoy the ride with. Kids are in the back driving you a little stir crazy with the “are we there yet ?” symphony and you want to sometimes stop for a toilet break just for the peace it brings.
We all know though that sometimes we get a little lost and there can be some nasty bumps in the road. This is the story of a couple who despite what life has thrown at them they will always find a way to get back in the drivers seat and take control. They will do so with some witty banter and poking fun at each other. 10 years ago they decided it might be a good idea to get married given that they had agreed that they would like to have some mini me’s in their home one day. Under a 100 year old apple tree in Mittagong surrounded by close friends and family they got hitched and celebrated in a very understated and intimate way.
The only decorations to be seen were the delicate paper cranes that Penny had made that dotted the table setting. Paper cranes have featured in their life frequently since and have become symbolic for them both and for the 3 wonderful children they have bought into this world Max, Harper and Monty. It was at Max’s birth that they hit the biggest deepest pothole you could ever imagine. Max was full term stillborn. He is in their hearts and minds every single day since. A test of a relationship doesn’t get any bigger, it’s a “Caution : windy road ahead” sign a mile high. They made it through the twists and hairpin turns remarkably in one piece. Harper and Monty are cherished and Adam & Penny love nothing more than to see them become the loveable little individuals they are. They always encourage them to think for themselves and explore their world with passion, gusto & a zest for life.
This year marks 10 years since the boy from Inverloch married his girl from Shepparton. They never had professional photos taken for their wedding and have regretted it. Ironicly Penny is now a working photographer herself and they are great friends of ours. She wished she had that picture of the two of them to celebrate that milestone and so now she is proving it’s never too late and has the next best thing. A peek into their world 10 years later and how far they have come. Still that crazy couple making each other laugh and ditching the cliche box of chocolates; instead opting for a scratchie to bring them luck and some highlighters to help them remember what’s really important in this life.
